Flying Snake |
Snakes are not the most loved of creatures. There are some people who treasure them and their unique ways enough to have many living in cages in their homes. Let's look at the snakes and then at what the Bible has to say about talking, flying, and vomiting snakes.

|
Only 50 of the 2,700 species are poisonous. They usually attack people if provoked. |
|
There are such a great variety of colors that snakes have. If you wanted to find one for each color of the rainbow, you could. |
|
The diamond back rattlesnake is the most dangerous snake in the United States. It lives in woods and farmland, where its diamond pattern camouflages it well. Poison is injected through it's curved fangs. It gets new fangs every few months. |
|
The rattlesnake venom causes the heart to stop. Snake poison is a mixture of chemicals made in the snake's salivary glands. |
|
Experts think snakes adjust the amount of poison delivered depending on the size of the victim.
|
| 7. Rattlesnakes and vipers have a strange dance they do twisting about each other to show which male is strongest. They try to push the other's head to the ground. |
|
The green egg laying python also have combat battles between the males twisting and winding up in the trees. They move together very elegantly and usually do not bite each other. They eat birds. Another snake that looks almost identical is the emerald tree boa. Scientists are not sure why they look so much alike. Boas give birth to live snakes. |
A cousin of this python is the Reticulated python. It grows up to 25 feet long. These pythons squeeze their victims till they die. Female pythons keep their eggs warm by coiling around them and "shivering". |
|
Just one teaspoon of cobra poison could kill 80 people. Many people bitten by snakes can be treated with an antivenin. |
|
In India men called snake charmers make snakes dance. They love to use the cobra for this. The snake is kept in a basket and a flute played. The snake swells its hood showing its anger. He sways back and forth lining himself up with the eyes of the man who is swaying back and forth as he plays. It only looks like he is dancing to the music. Scientists believe they cannot hear the flute. |
|
The hognose snake is fairly short and has a nose that looks like a pig. To make himself look fierce, he inflates his upper body like a balloon. He flattens his neck. He hisses and sways pretending to strike. He is really harmless and slow. If this doesn't work he plays dead. His tongue hangs out and he flops onto his back. This snake deceives predators.

13. Flying Snake There is a snake in Borneo that climbs trees and then jumps gliding to other trees. It is an amazing site to see. |
|
The first snakes God made had pretty wings and could fly. They lived in the garden of Eden. |
|
Snakes were created by God. In the Bible in Genesis 1 and 2, it talks about each thing God made so perfectly and that He was pleased with each thing. Before this God had made angels. (Ezekiel 28:15, Colossians 1:16) Then in Genesis 3, the Bible says the snake started talking. This really caught the interest of Eve, the first woman God ever made. Snake talking She had been warned about a fallen unhappy angel that wanted to destroy her new garden. Eve had been warned not to go near a certain tree because that was the only place this angel was allowed to be in her garden. She was so curious when she heard the talking snake she came closer to the forbidden tree to listen. She could only see a snake. But in the Bible text Colossians 1:16, it talks about invisible things God made. There was an angel she could not see that was talking and making it sound like his voice came from the snake. Ventriloquists can throw their voice till it looks like a puppet or animal is talking. Who was this fallen angel? |
Ezekiel 28 talks about angel Lucifer that God made. He wore clothes with lighted up stones. His name meant light bearer. He was the best singer and stood next to God. But he became proud and wanted worship belonging to God. Slyly he convinced other angels that God was unfair in not allowing him to help in the plans to make the world. |
14. Unhappiness in Heaven God showed him where he was wrong but he refused to listen. He was sneaking about making the other angels believe he was making heaven better with more unity. |
15. Lucifer Stubborn Lucifer was very stubborn and rebellious. He talked many other angels into joining him with plans to take over heaven. His pure innocent heart filled with hate and selfishness. God tried many things to help but finally there came a time when God had to send them all away from heaven. |
14. Thrown Out
Then war broke out in Heaven. Michael and His angels fought against the dragon, who fought back with his angels, but the dragon was defeated, and he and his angels were not allowed to stay in heaven any longer. Rev. 12:7 & 8
God could have just killed Lucifer now called Satan and all the other angels. But this angel had been so sneaky that there were some angels left in heaven with questions. If God had killed them, the rest in heaven would have been afraid of God and served Him out of fear. He wants service from love only. He gives freedom of choice.
Together these unhappy angels determined to ruin the world God had just created without their help.
15. Sneaky Snake The people God had just made were so intelligent, that Lucifer who was now called Satan, knew he needed a trick or they would never listen. He was at the tree of knowledge of good and evil and could not be seen by Eve. She just heard what sounded like a snake talking. She stepped closer to the forbidden tree to see this amazing snake with wings talking. It was telling her to eat fruit that God had told her not too. She argued with the snake that God said not to. But the snake convinced her to eat some and take some to Adam. |
16. HIDING Immediately Adam and Eve became full of a disease called guilt. They ran to hide knowing God would come visit with them as He always did in the evening. They were so ashamed for what they did. Have you ever felt ashamed for what you have done? They hid in the bushes thinking God might not find them. |
After breaking into a home, some men drove fast while police chased them. They came to our driveway and got stuck in the snow. No one could find them. |
| They had pulled down the back seat and hid in the |
When God came to visit he knew where Adam & Eve were. You cannot hide anything from God. He even knows all secrets and thoughts. The punishment for Adam and Eve was that they could not live in their nice garden. Eve would have children but it would be very painful. Adam would garden but it would be hard to make things grow. There would be thorns and briers. The snake could never have wings anymore. It was only to crawl. (Genesis 3:9-19) |
In the punishment of the snake, there was a prophecy of how God was going to fix the problem. This hope gave Adam and Eve the promise that God would deal with Satan.
|
20. Many years later, after Adam and Eve had children and died at the age of
almost 1,000, there was a lot of sin. People lived hundreds of years. God asked
a man called Noah to build an ark. The sins were so bad that God destroyed the
world with a flood and started over with one family who had enough faith to get
into the ark. God saved one set of each of the animals He had made. After
that some people served God from fear of another flood but the fear did not
bring them joy or friendship with God. |
| Finally, Jesus who had always been alive, put His plan into action. He came to live among men. This was the best demonstration of what God is really like. Satan has told us so many lies about God, many people are afraid of Him. |
|
VOMITING SNAKE In Revelation 12 & 13 we see the snake making trouble for God's people. He vomits out a flood of lies trying to confuse God's children. They win over the snake by trusting in the blood of Jesus the Lamb of God, and by he word of their testimony (Rev. 12:11, 16) |
|
Lying Snake In the garden of Eden, Satan lied to Eve that she would not die. He keeps telling this lie over and over. This lie is part of his vomit flood. God said there would be anger between His people and Satan. (Rev. 20:2) Finally, Satan will be bound for 1,000 years. |
|
Flying Egyptian snakes The winged serpents painted on tomb walls in Egypt are evidence that they believed Satan's lies of no death. |
Serpents and Dragons
Some churches have the snake or dragon on their pulpits as a symbol of special knowledge and ability to see into the future.
Egyptian crowns and headdresses had cobras on them and a crosier claimed to help with magic and secrets of the spirit world. God's church has the help of heaven. (woman with stars) Cobra Many believed this statue had power for there are so many cobras on this Egyptian statue. |
