While
doctoring in a little town in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico and holding
meetings each evening, there was an attack made on little my 11 year old
Kyle. He had gone for a walk during Mom's quiet time while she was
preparing the evening evangelistic meeting and before he was to help in
morning clinic. He went with two other big teen age boys. One was his
brother and the other a friend. They bounced a basket ball about between
them. They were wishing for a short game before clinic. Suddenly as Kyle
went to retrieve the ball, two mean looking big husky Spanish boys jumped
him from behind the bushes and held him tight. They had knives to his
throat. He was so frightened he thought he was going to die. His screams
caught the attention of his older brother who went back to help rescue
him. |
In
the little room where mama was praying and preparing the evening Bible
study, she suddenly was under impression to pray for her boys. She quickly
did. Then she hurried out onto the street where she had given them
permission to walk about. She looked up the street and hurrying towards
her was her little son. His big blue eyes were wide with excitement. His
blonde hair was all messed up.
"Mama," he told me, tremblingly, "two big guys almost killed me." He said he had kicked them and set himself free. I assured him that those boys were stronger than he was. God had told me to pray for him. God had set him free with invisible angels. We believe God set him free. Those big boys were rough boys known to be so. They attend school there from another village. The children were asked to take precautions after that and watch out better for each other. They were asked to stay in the yard of the home we were staying in. We thank God for HE is our defender. |
| Promises of protection
Psalms 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. "...but the swords raised against them break and fall as powerless as a straw. Others are defended by angels in the form of men of war. {GC88 631.1} To the worker for God the record of these angel visits should bring strength and courage. Today, as verily as in the days of the apostles, heavenly messengers are passing through the length and breadth of the land, seeking to comfort the sorrowing, to protect the impenitent, to win the hearts of men to Christ. We cannot see them personally; nevertheless they are with us, guiding, directing, protecting. {AA 152.4} Acts of the Apostles p. 152 Our minds must not be taken up with things around us, but must be occupied with the present truth and a preparation to give a reason of our hope with meekness and fear. We must seek wisdom from on high that we may stand in this day of error and delusion. We must examine well the foundation of our hope, for we shall have to give a reason for it from the Scriptures. This delusion will spread, and we shall have to contend with it face to face; and unless we are prepared for it, we shall be ensnared and overcome. But if we do what we can on our part to be ready for the conflict that is just before us, God will do His part, and His all-powerful arm will protect us. He would sooner send every angel out of glory to the relief of faithful souls, to make a hedge about them, than have them deceived and led away by the lying wonders of Satan. {EW 88.1} But those who follow Christ are ever safe under His watchcare. Angels that excel in strength are sent from heaven to protect them. The wicked one cannot break through the guard which God has stationed about His people. {Mar 130.1} Maranatha by Ellen White If you will try to suppress every evil thought through the day, then the angels of God will come and dwell with you. These angels are beings that excel in strength. You remember how the angel came to the sepulcher, and the Roman soldiers fell like dead men before the glory of his countenance; and if one angel could work with such power, how would it have been if all the angels that are with us here, had been present? The angels are with us every day, to guard and protect us from the assaults of the enemy. {RH, August 14, 1888 par. 9} |
