Ducklings in Peril

In the fast lane of the freeway I saw a pitiful sight. A mother duck crouched over little ducklings at the median. She had the ability of flying on over to the Columbia River but the little babies had no possible hope of survival at all without their mother. It was too dangerous for me to stop to help her. It was also illegal to stop in this fast lane. Huge trucks sped by causing strong wind blasts on this brave little mother.  I prayed that God would send an angel to lift the mother and her babies to the comfort of the Columbia River and not allow their lives to be smashed under tires. Tears came to my eyes as God pressed on my mind another mother who should be more like that mother duck.
This mother was educated and passed residency and certification boards in Family Practice. She was rushing about helping the world and others were hired to protect the children. House keepers were hired to help with keeping the home clean, and a secretary was hired to do other book work and take care of the phones. That mother was me. It was becoming obvious to me that I could not hire anyone to deeply, unconditionally love my children. I could not hire anyone to be loyal like that mother duck. They needed a stabilizing influence in their lives to anchor them for life.
After many hours of prayer and study to know God's will, I chose to spend more time and put my doctoring on hold. We found inexpensive land in the country so there would be lots of room and safety for the children to play and garden. I have seen great improvements on behavior and feelings of security. Their home school exams have shown they are progressing fine. The more natural setting for  the duck is a quiet country lake.
Many happy years of country life experiences in fishing, exploring,  and simple play have brought them a wide variety of experiences. They have developed a balance of physical and mental strength.

They have enjoyed  vacations. They love taking trips to a variety of  countries helping others once a year. The rich treasures of learning geography, cultures, traditions, languages, and customs first hand have helped them developed a world perspective.
