Revelation 4 & 5 Visiting God's Throne Room |
And
the One who sat there had the appearance of Jasper and Cornelian. A
rainbow, resembling an emerald encircled the throne. Rev. 4:3 NIV |
Surrounding
God's throne, John saw twenty four other thrones. Twenty four people sat on
these thrones. They had white robes and golden crowns. They had two things
on their hands. They had harps and gold bowls. What do you think that they
had in their bowls? It was not manna. It was not fruit. It was the prayers
of God's people. They listen to our prayers. They are interested in us.
What do they have in their bowls from you today? Are you praying?
In Revelation five it says that the twenty four elders sang a new song. They sang that Jesus was worthy to open the sealed book because of the price He paid with His life. |
The
second living creature was like an ox. An ox is known for his strength. He
was often selected to pull heavy wagon loads across the United States as
people moved WEST. this ox had six wings, and eyes all over him. We
learned that wings meant speed and eyes meant they were able to see
everything.
The ox flag was over the tribe of Ephriam in the Hebrew camp in the wilderness. There must be people from this tribe that are watching from heaven, watching the story of the seven seals. Perhaps when Jesus raised a group from the dead, he raised from this tribe. |
In
the center of the throne room, around the throne were four living
creatures. They were covered with eyes. Some eyes were in front and some
eyes were in back. The first living creature was like a lion. (Rev. 4:6,7)
These 4 living creatures remind me of some campers who had 4 leaders with
flags of lion, bull, eagle, and a man. The lion flag was the
standard of the tribe of Judah. It was in front of the gate of the
tabernacle. |
The
third living creature was like a man. He had six wings and eyes
everywhere. You would expect him to fly very fast. His eyes tell you that
he sees everything going on. The man flag in the Hebrew camp was the flag
of the tribe of Reuben. |
The
fourth creature was a flying eagle with six wings and eyes covering him.
The song of Moses written in Deuteronomy 32:11 Moses talks of God as like
an eagle that hovers over its young and spreads its wings to catch them.
He even carries them on His wings. Six wings make an even stronger eagle.
The eagle with the viper was on the flag standard of Dan. The tribe of Dan had trouble obeying God. Continually these four creatures are saying that God is Holy. They say He is Holy and always will be. |
Before
the throne of God were also seven lamps burning brightly. This is a symbol
of God the Holy Spirit. There are three in the God family. They are God
the Father on His throne, Jesus the lamb who died for us, and the Holy
Spirit represented by the lamps. (Rev. 4:5) |
When
John saw the lamb, looking as if it had been killed, it was standing in
the center of the throne room. All around the lamb were angels, the four
creatures we just talked about, and the 24 thrones with elders sitting on
them.
The lamb that John saw had seven horns on it. Remember in prophecy the horn is a symbol of power. There were eyes all over the lamb. Remember the lamb represents Jesus. For in the Scriptures it is written: John the Baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world." John 1:29........ "He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter." Isaiah 53. |
Eyes tell us there is an ability to understand and see all
that happens. In the Bible, it says that every eye will see Jesus come. Rev.
1:7
The wings are a symbol of speed. Truth Given Wings.--There is great need of men who can use the press to the best advantage, that the truth may be given wings to speed it to every nation, and tongue, and people.--Gospel Workers, p. 25. (1915) {Evangelism p. 161.2} Papers and books are the Lord's means of keeping the message for this time continually before the people. |
