How God Delivered us When Falsely Accused
My
little boy became sick after a mission trip into Belarus. A fever in
Belarus had possibly injured his liver which caused him to be unable to
digest fat. He could not digest vitamins he needed so he became sicker
loosing weight and not growing all year until we discovered a way to help
him get well. Then he grew faster than anyone I have ever seen. God
rescued in a remarkable way, but I am getting ahead of the story.
He was sick all year and many doctors could not figure out the problem. He got worse until finally he was hospitalized.
As soon as the doctor saw my husband at the end of that week, Dr. M's face turned white as a sheet, he dropped papers and let us out of the hospital within the hour. I wondered if he saw angels too. He had so much fear on his face!
I decided to juice carrots every day for my
son since he loved carrot juice but hates squash, yams, sweet potatoes and
all the things with lots of vitamin A. In
just twenty days, my son gained twelve pounds and grew one inch. Since
he loved sprouts and carrot juice, we made good progress. His problem
completely stopped and he was well finally. He has never had the problem
again. It has been 7 years. Praise God for deliverance from what
could have turned into the worst nightmare. We are so thankful that He
always takes care of us. We forget the wrongs done to us, we just are so
thrilled that Jesus had other doctors fight for us. We did not suit this
Dr. M. we have not become discouraged. We just keep on "The Lord is a mighty helper. " He soothed our fears, wiped away our tears and helped us go on after this trouble. |
| Many
times people jump to the wrong conclusion just because they do not take
time to listen. Other times it is because they think the person is making
up a story to trick them. If the pride is involved, it unfortunately can
be a way of hiding the fact that you can't figure out what is wrong. You
just blame someone else. This is a terrible thing to do and may cause
someone's death. Thank God, He put a stop to it and led us to the
solution.
If people would just believe the best of others, many embarrassing mistakes could be avoided. Sometimes a jealous gossiping person ruins everything for others. |
| In the Bible the story is told of
young Joseph who had jealous brothers. They did not like God giving their
brother a dream. Joseph loved to do what was right and it made them angry.
His brothers threw him into a pit then later sold him as a slave.
2 Timothy 3:12 "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. " In Egypt he worked hard as a slave until one day his master's wife tried to get him to go to bed with her. When he refused, she lied about him that he had harmed her sexually and he was thrown into prison. After many years, God rescued him and set him as second to Pharaoh in Egypt. When his brothers came for food, he graciously forgave them. When they were afraid he might hold a grudge, he sweetly told them, God had sent him there to provide for them during famine. Joseph suffered terribly for years because of what his brothers had done. Yet he forgave. This is such a heavenly trait to be able to forgive as God forgives us. |
| I hope you are not one who gossips or thinks everyone is
out to trick you and lie to you. I hope you are not out to destroy
others. Your life will never be a happy one if this is your
attitude. This story has some of these problems in it. It would never have
happened if it was not for a nurse who made up an ugly story and thought
evil of our family and passed it on to the doctor. Satan
is looking for people who he can use to destroy others. Don't let Satan
use your tongue for this kind of work. God has a very serious punishment
for people who do this.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, |

Falsely Accused (story on adult level) |
After
a mission trip into Belarus, I discovered there had been a dangerous
nuclear reactor accident not too far distant. There were a few notable
skin patches seen on children who attended meetings. I took two of my sons
with me on this trip. My seven year old developed a fever and was very
sick for a couple days. I had a warm blanket given for him to rest on
while I held the meetings. He had many dear precious people doing what
they could to help my son. I don't know what he had but he was soon back
to his mischievous self. |
| Six months after returning to the United States, he was having problems with runny stools. I figured it was like other missions where we had travelers diarrhea or picked up a parasite. His daddy agreed and we treated him with antibiotics and a medication for parasites. He did not get any better. Each month it seemed to get worse till he was having accidents in the car and while he was sleeping. The odor was very strong and it took four extra cycles through the wash machine to rid the garments of the odor. |
| Once while his daddy carried him in from the car because
he had fallen asleep on the way home, there was a mess on daddy's suit.
Then there were problems in the car, and even on church pews. We were all
so embarrassed. The little boy developed a poor view of himself for he had
such a bad odor no one wanted to be his friend. Each month things became
worse.
Since this experience, I have found many people just stay home and hide when they have a problem with their digestion. Some hide for years. It is so sad. |
| We tried rewarding him for clean clothes until we finally realized it was not this type of problem. Since we are both doctors, we were sure we could figure it out and help him but nothing we knew was helping. Finally we asked advice from a pediatrician we had referred patients to in Portland. We knew she was very good and had years of experience. She thought it might be a gluten intolerance disorder when her first impression of it being constipation turned out to be wrong. |
| She referred us to see another specialist with gastroenterology, nutrition, and pediatrics as his training. He used a scope to look for abnormalities. We were so concerned for he was loosing weight and not growing. All the food he was given went right on through. He had as many as 25 stools a day. It was a mystery to all of us doctors for the stool specimens showed no parasites but he had diarrhea. |
| His stools were now floating and had a horrid odor. One of these was seen by this specialist. But it did not give him any clues. (This surprised me.) The odor was so bad, I carried a can of deodorant spray in my purse everywhere we went. Every trip in the car into any public place was an embarrassment. |
| God arranged for an internal medicine specialist to sit behind me in church. He was the same who had prepared our family with immunizations for Borneo travel. I turned around and told him I really needed help. This son had left the church for the 17th time for the restroom. Each time he returned, there was this putrid odor about him. This dear doctor friend had noticed it and said he wondered if his lab could detect parasites better than the lab we had gone to. He wanted to help us. The tests he ordered did not help. He said the odor was like that of those who can't digest fats. (This little one of mine was eight years old and skin and bones by now.) It had been a year of battling with the unknown. He was always hungry. I fed him the most nourishing foods and consulted with a dietitian for good recipes to nourish him. |
| Dr. M. decided to hospitalize this boy. I arranged for the other children to be with friends and family so I could stay with my little one. He was so frail. He looked so gaunt. I drove many miles to get help for him. If it was a fat malabsorption problem, was it his liver? I had all these concerns and emailed my sister to have her husband do medical searching too. What could we do for his survival? |
| My husband was doctoring in a hospital 5 hours away but
I knew I could turn to God always for help. Then my husband called me very
worried. He said the admitting doctor just called him and the working
diagnosis he had for hospitalization was that the child's mother was
making up all the symptoms to get attention. (Munchhausens by proxy.) My
husband knew this doctor M. was way off and it made him angry.
I called the internist who had sat behind me in church and told him. He was furious! He said to give him the name of the doctor and he would give him the what for. He told me things could turn out really ugly for it was my word against the attending doctor. It sounded like a story from Australia called "Never Cry Wolf". God had this dear doctor call and warn the attending doctor M. of his mistake. He told him of the law suits that would land on him for he was not even running fat malabsorption tests when the odor and floating stools was a blatant sign of a big problem. That if he did not at least cover himself by ordering these tests, he would error big time in management of this child. If the child died during his crazy course of accusing mom of being the cause, he could even loose his license and position. He assured the doctor he knew our family and no such abuse existed. The next day when Doctor M. came in for rounds and told me he was going to report me to child protective services for making things up, God put boldness in me. I had prayed all night. My Bible that I keep in my purse was read through the night. God showed me many promises of hope. I told Doctor M. if he did try to report, he would be embarrassed for my husband and I would seek out the best medical care available till we found the remedy for our dear son. |
| My doctor friend called back to see if fat absorption tests were ordered. He was pleased that his suggestions were being followed. He said that doctor M. was insulted and angrily said that he, Dr. McClarty (an Internal Medicine specialist) needed to read Dorlands Internal medicine text for children before he dared to make any recommendations. (The textbook is about 2-3 inches thick.) They argued back and forth for over an hour starting about 9 in the evening. |
All
week there were hard experiences to face. Doctor M. sneered at my medical
training, he scorned me and told me to leave the hospital and not stick
around my son for I was the cause of his problems. The room was filled
with women who evaluated my son's reading level, etc. Every time my son
did something and I responded, it was all written down. My son was
extremely nervous. God helped him read words bigger than I thought he
could. He had his favorite book along that was on insects and other
creatures of the wild. They had him read in there and he surprised me.
Then a person was sent to decide if I was mentally stable. I knew that
many have taken that exam and the examiner can be bribed to alter their
findings. I was glad that my Pastor agreed to sit through the exam with me
and was willing to go to court in my behalf if needed. Another
person was ordered to follow us around even to the bathroom. My son was
not given any clothes for sleeping in. He was not even given a cup. They
were afraid he might get some poison from mom in his cup. It was so ridiculous!
They did not even let the little guy have water for several days. He was
only allowed juice on his trays from the kitchen. |
My
son was very frightened and shy and wanted me to stay. I faithfully stayed
by his bed. I did not have any water to drink or food to eat for
those first two days. Now I understand something I never realized before.
There is not a counter balance system to protect the innocent that are
falsely accused. It was a shock to see that the innocent could be
considered a criminal and be made to pay the hospital bill while people
ordered unusual and absurd tests and work ups at my expense to prove me a
criminal. God had his army in place
long before these sought to destroy us. He went into action when things
really got bad. My son told me he thought God allowed all these trials so
we could witness to people who might never hear about God. My little 8
year old son was very forgiving. I had to get help from God to forgive. I
was like a mother bear robbed of her cubs. I would do anything to protect
my boy.
I knew of cases in my practice in Family Medicine where divorces made angry partners make up stories to get custody. These custody battles are nasty. But this problem has reached ugly proportions. I knew it was not my husband doing this. I discovered a meddling jealous nurse had started the mess. But it is not really people that are trying to destroy us. Satan finds whoever he can to help him. If there is a person who usually is kind and loving but gets too busy to read their Bible, and pray, they can start working for Satan without realizing it. (I have since found a book called "Out of Control, Who's Watching?" There are many in the Portland working to protect the falsely accused) |
| I told my husband by phone that he needed to stop his
work in the emergency room and get down to Portland to help before we were
destroyed. He immediately found a substitute doctor and came at ninety
miles and hour making it in record time. He carried him around on his
shoulders through the halls and back to his room. He slept with us
in the room chair next to his dear son. In the morning when Dr. M. saw him
for the first time, his face paled, he dropped all paper work charting hit
the floor. He urged us into the our sons room and closed the door to keep
medical school students from seeing his embarrassment. My husband is tall
and large yet not scary looking. I wondered if he saw angel guards. I will
never know but I was so pleased he immediately released my son.
|
| Since this time, I have talked with others and read
books on the horrible atrocities of those who have been accused falsely.
There are promises I recommend that the praying, Bible believing reader
can keep in their Bibles to cling to and to share. These are typed up from
my journal. These are what God showed me in the night to give me courage
those nights in the hospital. The wounds of the experience have made me
more cautious and have given me a desire to help others in trouble. I have
prayed about even sharing this but have learned that some are helped to
trust God more.

I am so glad God was there opening my Bible to comfort me when I so desperately needed Him. When desperate for help, fall on your knees with your Bible in hand. Tell God you are willing to follow all He asks. Tell Him you will obey whatever he asks. If you are not cherishing some pet sin and refusing to obey, there will be promises revealed to hold you through the darkest trials. 2 Timothy 1:12 ..and I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed to Him... Is. 52:12 (In answer to my question of God what to do. I was urged by one doctor friend to get out of the hospital quick for 3 other families had also been falsely accused and made it out safely. Yet not to try if I did not have a strong man with me.) "For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward." | "While slander can blacken
the reputation, it cannot stain the character. That is in God's
keeping...Christ is acquainted with all that
is misunderstood and misrepresented by men.
His children can afford to wait in calm patience and trust no matter how
maligned and despised; for nothing is secret that shall not be made
manifest, and those who honor
God shall be honored by Him in the presence of men and angels."
Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings p. 31-33
Some day this promise assures us that God will make all the truth known and understood. All who whispered against me to destroy me will face that judgment. It was a very expensive trial for us. We had to pay cash for thousands of dollars of mistakes. For all through this, we waited for the Lord to act. We prayed and He delivered us from what Dr. M was trying to do. We are grateful that Pastor Larre Kostenko came to bring hope and encouragement. He was such a blessing to us in our week of terror. He stayed through the psychiatric exam as a witness in case we had to go to court to get our son back. God put fear in Dr. M's heart and delivered us from his hands. I hope he learned not to attack mothers from this experience. I hope he is not still doing this horrible thing still to other families. |
