Seeds are the promise of life.

Inside each seed are the directions for the making of the mature plant.

Every organism is made up of many cells. The activity of each cell seems to be controlled by a structure located generally in the center of each cell called a nucleus. Within the cell's nucleus are contained the chromosomes (at least in higher plants and animals), and within every chromosome are the cell's genes. Chromosomes are made up of a chemical known as DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and some protein.

The cucumber seeds are God's packages of genes. The directions for making a plant are in each seed.

That one seed can make many many cucumbers. It depends on how much food is in the soil and how much water it gets.

These are little baby cucumber plants. I call them seedlings.
There are so many different shapes to seeds. It is always a marvel to me to see the variety and think of God's imagination. It has not end.
The squash seed is a packet of information ready to make a huge plant that grows many vegetables. Yet I have never had the squash seed make tomatoes or peppers.
Only dill seeds make dill
This seed makes only Eggplant.
These seeds only make fennel. I use fennel for seasoning boiled vegetables.
The Bible stories and truths are like seeds. When they are planted in the hearts of children, will do exactly what God planned. Faith comes by hearing these stories. The more you study, the more your faith plant will grow.
The word of God is seed. We are to take these seeds and plant them everywhere. We are not supposed to worry if it will grow or not. We are to trust God has the power to wake up the seed and help it grow.

Seeds are the promise of life.

Do You love Me more than these? Feed my lambs. John 21:15

SONG

Three times Peter said he did not even know Jesus in the court of the high priest. When Jesus looked at him it broke Peter's heart.

Humbled by his big sin of denying Jesus during the trial, Peter realized how weak he was. As He learned to trust in God for His strength. The seeds Jesus had planted in Peter's heart over 3 years of training were starting to grow nicely. Now it was time for him to share gospel seeds with others like the plant makes seeds each year.

Jesus gave Peter a very important job.  He asked Peter to feed lambs. That means He wanted the Bible truths shared. Jesus gives you the job of taking gospel seeds to your friends and neighbors.

The job of feeding not only the sheep but the tender pet lambs. This was a delicate job. He wanted him to gently nurture the flock as a shepherd. John 21.

The word for lambs that He used meant "my own pet lambs." He had a special love for the world full of lambs. A love that recognized their weakness.

Jesus used the best methods for catching the attention of people. He told stories about things people were used to seeing. He drew lessons from these illustrating important things for salvation. He spoke of seeds, birds, lilies, water, and bread. Everyday these items were visible to the people. They never looked at these things again without remembering His lessons.
Seeds

The seeds in the pomegranate fill up the whole fruit. Just a little bit of juice is around them. It is red juice like the blood of Jesus. The seeds are like the children of Abraham. All who believe on Jesus are seeds or children of Abraham and have a right to the same promises of eternal life with Jesus in heaven.

To break down prejudice, Jesus asked favors. The Jews and Samaritans were enemies. Jesus asked a Samaritan lady for a drink while she was getting water from the well. His trust awakened her trust. She stopped ignoring Him. Then He raised her curiosity by telling her He could give her a kind of water that would make it so she never got thirsty. After a short visit with Him, she became so excited she left her water jug and ran to find her friends. She forgot to give Jesus a drink, she was so thrilled.

Many times Jesus started and ended His lessons with a quiz. Before this Samaritan lady could receive the gift Jesus wanted to give her, she needed to recognize her sin and Who her Savior is. He mentioned the 6 men she had lived with. Jesus convinced her that He could read her thoughts yet she felt she could trust Him. She read in His face that He valued her and loved her.

The one who tastes of the love of Christ will always want more. Jesus is like a well that never runs dry. From this well we may get strength for all our needs. He will help us find the best methods for reaching people. They in turn will bring others to the Well. (Desire of Ages pp. 183-187, John 4:1-42)
