Migration

Who controls the world and patterns of migration?

Marathon runners love their long distance experiences. Many run over 26 miles without stopping. There are animals that travel much farther than that. They go to escape bad weather or to find food and raise their young. The travel is called migration. The caribou in Alaska migrate 800 miles or more. Nothing seems to be able to stop them. Their feet are designed to easily manage the snow and swamps. These feet can dig for grass beneath the snow.
Swan migrate. The mute swan can be recognized by the "s" curve to the way they hold their necks.

We enjoy watching the trumpeter swan when they fly through. Many stop here to rest and eat before going north for summer. To watch the video clip press the right arrow button and wait for it to load. The trumpet noise of the swan is impressive.

Watching the v shape and listening to geese as they fly over is exciting for it tells us that the season is changing. When they are going north we know that winter is finally over.
Lady bugs travel to areas where they can stay warm and have food. In our area there are many thousands that go into the ground. It is amazing that they fly in from long distances to associate together under ground for the winter to wait for spring. It gets 20 and 30 degrees below zero at times during our winters. These lady bugs wait under ground which is covered with snow and ice.
In Africa the wildebeests migrates when there is a food shortage. They travel with the whole herd running. It is amazing to watch them plunge down banks into rivers infested with hungry crocodiles. There are many who do not survive the trip. The ones behind just run on top of the ones that fell. They seem to all know where to go.
The tiny hummingbird flies long distances without eating. Normally they need to eat every 15 minutes. Over a day they eat about 60 times. Who sustains them when they travel to Mexico over oceans or gulfs or mountains? Who directs these tiny birds how to get to their destination? Some scientists say there is navigation done by watching the stars. Also some are directed by magnetic fields but who tells them when to turn and head a different direction and when to start the trip?
The bar goose travels as high as 30,000 feet up over tall mountains. How do they make it without oxygen? We need oxygen in airplanes when we travel that high.
The tiny fragile monarch butterfly travels distances of 2,000 and 3,000 miles from Canada to Mexico. It is amazing this creature stops to lay eggs then goes on. The eggs turn to caterpillars, then to butterflies and continue on to Mexico without their parent's help of teaching them where to go. Who guides the little creatures?
Though we cannot see Him, God is always in control of the orbits of planets and earth and the migration of animals, birds, fish, and butterflies. Just like we cannot see God, we cannot see the wind but we can see it bend trees and pick up buildings and knock things over. God cannot be seen but what He made and does is seen.
There are three in the God family. Look at the first book in the Bible and read the first chapter in Genesis. It mentions each of them as working together in making the world. There is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus who lived on earth and died and raised back to life), and God the Holy Spirit. They each have different jobs but work together for the same goals.
Song:

John 16:13 When, however the Spirit comes, Who reveals the truth about God, He will lead you into all the truth, He will not speak on His own authority, but He will speak of what He hears, and will tell you of things to come.

God the Holy Spirit has symbols that describe Him just like Jesus has the lamb as a symbol. These symbols help us to understand His character. Rain is one of the many symbols.

Rain helps to wash things clean and makes it possible for plants and seeds to grow. God the Holy Spirit needs to be invited into our lives to help us want to do right. He speaks to our conscience prompting us to be honest, and loyal. He prompts us to do careful work and keep our rooms clean and tidy.

When you drop something into the water the ripples keep going. Just like when you drop an idea about God in someone's mind. The Holy Spirit keeps those thoughts going on and on long after you said them.

Another symbol is fire. The tongues of fire on the heads of the disciples showed that God was with them to help them preach to all people in whatever language they knew best. This is a special promise for missionaries. (Acts 2)

These tongues had double points showing they could speak more than one language.

God the Holy Spirit was present when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. In the symbol of a dove, He rested on the shoulder of Jesus. He is bigger than a dove. God the Holy Spirit is just as special as Jesus. He has just as much love for you as Jesus does. He was with Jesus when Adam was created. He is not visible to us.

This symbol is of a bird that no one is afraid of. God did not choose a vulture, an eagle, hawk, or owl that could tear flesh and cause harm. This dove symbol is of a very gentle bird that is  loyal to its mate. The doves mate for life and are tender and kind to each other.  We can realize that God the Holy Spirit is very loyal and gentle. He is not One to be afraid of.

When we invite God the Holy Spirit to help us be kind and loving He brings us joyIn Joel 2:28 the Bible says that God the Holy Spirit will be talking to even children in the last days.
In Galatians 5:22 there is a list of the kinds of things God the Holy Spirit brings to our lives.

First on the list is love. This boy is showing love for his sister.

The next on the list is joy and peace We can pray for God the Spirit to make us peace makers . Instead of trying to start fights we will be stopping them.
Long suffering and gentleness and kindness are more things God the Spirit brings into our personalities and characters. We will take good care of pets and wild animals. We will be patient and kind with people in school and in the home.
God the Holy Spirit helps us be good listeners and ready to learn. Meekness is the ability to be taught. God is the best teacher there is. Some people refuse to listen. When God is not wanted around, He is quiet. His voice gets harder and harder to hear. He still loves you. He does not force our love and obedience. His job is to lead us to truth as John 16 tells us.

Finally in Galatians 5:22, there is another quality  from God the Holy Spirit that involves our health, temperance. God the Holy Spirit leads us to take good care of our bodies. Strong athletic, healthy people live longer and have less disease when God the Holy Spirit is allowed to be in their lives. The Bible tells us what kinds of foods to avoid. The very first diet given to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden was fruits, nuts, and grains. Separate lessons will cover health subjects on diet, recipes, etc.

Isn't it amazing that every aspect of our lives, the Kind Heavenly Father has a special plan for? Here is the secret to our greatest happiness. It is found as we are changed by God Holy Spirit. One who is , will be exercising, drinking lots of water, getting plenty of rest, sunlight, and fresh air. They will be very careful what they eat. They will not be drinking alcohol, smoking, and on caffeine and other drugs.
God is in control of all the universe. He keeps the stars in the sky, the planets in orbits and yet He cares about every detail of each of our lives. I love Him. Let us pray for God the Holy Spirit to bring all the joy, love, peace, gentleness, thankfulness, kindness, patience, and temperance into our lives today.

Let us ask Him to guide us into all truth. This is the secret of happiness.
