| Welcom to larom.org. This section of Bible studies continues our look at Bible pictures of God's character. It is amazing how this study helps you see what a loving God we have. He was willing to take risks to win our love and admiration. He is honored by our love and faithfulness even during poverty and sickness. He treasures His children and hears every cry for help. This is a shortened simplified version of my adult web site on the same theme: illustratedbible.net |
This
book is full of promises of what God will do if you want to be His
partner. He will turn the hearts of the
fathers to their children. That means your dad will think of fun things to
do with you. He will enjoy being with you, and you will enjoy your dad.
(Malachi 4:6)
Maybe you are saying, "Good, when will this be? I can hardly wait for this." |
| A person that has faith like Elijah
will declare the great day of God. You can be that Elijah as you share the
good news God is coming soon. I can be that person like Elijah as I share.
God's people are not worried about payment for service of sharing the
gospel. Today as in the days of Malachi, there are ministers who
work only because they get money for it. If
ministers give themselves completely to the work, and devote all their
energies to building up the work, they will not lack any of their needs.
The whole earth will burn up in fire. (Malachi 4:1) All that will be left of the selfish, cruel, and greedy will be ashes. Get ready. Prepare to meet your generous God. Don't store up food for the time of trouble, it will be taken by violent hands and your family harmed. Store your treasure in heaven where it will never be stolen, never blown up, never burned up, never shaken down in quakes, never taken up in tornados, and never decreased in value. Those who do not store treasure will never be in heaven. Treasure is stored by sharing the gospel at your own expense and without pay. Treasure is stored by giving one hundred percent. Some think that giving 10 percent is generous. Those who go without things so they can give more, have learned the secret of the greatest joy and blessings. The story is told by Otto Koning of a house cleaning widow lady. She prayed for the business man that was her boss on the day she cleaned his place. God blessed him with unusual blessings every time she worked for him. He noticed and discovered she was praying for him. He wanted her to pray every day for him. As time passed, he raised her wages to make sure she continued to come work for him. Then noticing she had the same black coat on he gave her money to get another. She thanked him and figured she only wore one coat at a time anyway and sent the money to a missionary. She was so happy because she had a gift that she could give. She thanked God and asked Him to increase His blessing. She did this everywhere she went to clean offices. Every business man she worked for, noticed that on the days she worked for him, he had great business gains. They all thought they were the only one she was praying for. After awhile they realized she was giving the money away. So in order to get new clothes, coat and furniture they would have to buy it for her. Furniture trucks began arriving at her home. They came to see what they could do for her. Her wages went up and so did her gifts to missionaries. She did not keep anything for herself. The came with furniture trucks and took out her old table and put in a new one. They took out the old beds and put in new ones. They all did not seem to realize the others were getting blessings too. Her rent was paid by one man. Her grocery bill had a deposit and was renewed anytime the grocer called the business man for more money. She saw this rent money and grocery money as another chance to give to missions. Her heart was bursting with joy at having more to give to Jesus. She was having so much fun sending checks to missions. Finally as the years passed, missionaries came home on furlough and looked up the wealthy lady giving to them. They inquired at the church only to learn there were no wealthy people there. It was discovered the poor widow lady was sending all the money. They figured out that she had given to 8 different missionaries a total of 25,000 dollars in one year. The pastor was shocked because this little lady was on their poor people list and was getting help from the church. Where do you think she sent the money gifts from the church? You guessed it, she sent that too! So, you see, some of the church's money actually got to the missionaries too! We have visited many people as we shared our mission stories from place to place and done vacation Bible schools and sanctuary programs with the walk through model. In the guest room where we have stayed, the closet is filled with extra clothing that the hosts just could not fit into their closet. We often get clothes we really do not need. Then they are stuffed in storage or in spare closets. We could do without extra clothes and like the widow lady, send to the missionaries more money. WE could do without extra beds, bed spreads, pretty tables, table clothes and dishes. We could sleep on the couch an extra year so that a missionary could get the gospel into the unreached tribes. WE could sleep on the floor on a cot or air mattress an extra year so we could help buy Bibles for those who hunger for truth. Prepare to meet your God by discovering how generous He is. Look at the promises in Malachi if you share money, time, talent, and gospel treasures with those who need them. God will be your partner. That is a really good deal. He is the wealthiest of all in the whole world and in the Universe. There is no end to His resources in money and wisdom. To be His partner is a great deal. We don't have much to give in this partnership but He does not seem to mind. If you return tithe and offerings to God, you are acting out a promise to be His partner. Let Him worry about how His money is used. He doesn't really need it anyway. He is paving His streets with gold. He just wants that signal that you want to be partners. Then He pours out so many blessings you don't have room to put it all. He rebukes anybody or thing that devours your children, makes fun of you, or steals from you or robs you in any way. Not only that, but all nations will call you blessed. That widow was blessed. She did not have a fancy house, but she was happier than anyone with a palace. Supporting missionaries she was reaching thousands. Nations were blessed. Some think good housing is the blessing God is talking about, but these people are not seeing as God sees. He can see the millions of people without beds, shelters, and cars. The widow lady found the blessing. She had honor, though she did not seek any for herself. She had increases in money, though she did not desire it. She was like Jesus who did not desire wealth for Himself. He often had no where to sleep. He often slept outside under the stars. Learn what God is really like. You will make a better partner. You are doing this by going through all of the Bible learning what God is like. Obey all that you learn and He will know you are His child, His teenager, His youth. God knows His sheep. No one can fool Him. His sheep hear His voice and obey Him. They are giving beyond their ability and He multiplies what they have like the barley loaves so that millions are fed. Like the promise to Abraham, "In you shall all the families of earth be blessed", God wants each of us to have the same blessings. |
| Credits: Otto Koning stories in a series of 12 tapes are a must! We as a family have gained so much insight from them. For the investment of 29 dollars that they charge, you are getting the bargain. I have gained so much of a blessing from his tape on the Pineapple story during the disaster of a doctor partner beating me up and threatening to shoot me with his gun. I gave my "pineapples" to the Lord and let Him worry about my reputation and asked for Him to teach me how to forgive and go on with life. That story is recorded in the section of "Answers to prayer" As you listen to his stories of his work in the jungles of New Guinea, your heart will be supercharged with the desire to learn from his mistakes and trust God more. Here is a link to where you can get this above widow story and many more good stories. Our children love listening to these and so do we: |
