Mother's
Day is very special. This day keeps florists very busy as mothers all over
the world get flowers on this day. Some happy mothers have flowers pinned
on them to wear. Other mothers get cards telling them how special they
are. Some very lucky mothers, get to go eat out with their family and
think of old times and fun times. Then there are mothers who get to fly to
some gorgeous flower garden or to another warm country with many fun
things to see and do with their children. No matter how much money is
spent on Mother's Day, the happiest mothers are those who know they are
loved and treasured. |
Rose
enjoyed a weekly Bible study and prayer group at friend Darlene's home.
One day as it came close to Mother's Day, she commented how much she
missed her mother and wanted to see her. Since mother lived so very far
away, Rose just did not have enough dollars to make a trip to see her. How
lonely she was for her mother. |
| Darlene suggested they pray together over this problem. Days passed and the prayer was not really thought of much. Then when Rose was in the grocery store she spied a notice that offered a free trip to go see your Mom on Mother's Day. The store along with the local radio station, was having a drawing for an airplane ticket and a bouquet of flowers for the winner's mother. She filled in an entry and dropped it into the box and forgot about it. |
![]() One
day, a few weeks later, the telephone rang. When Rose answered, a man on
the other end of the line said, "Congratulations! You have won a free
airplane ticket and a bouquet of flowers for your mother on Mother's
Day!" she was shocked and thought they were kidding. The voice on the
phone said, "No, I'm from---radio station and you are on the air
right now. Tell us, where does your mother live?" When he learned she
was in Florida, it was his turn to be shocked. They probably did not
expect such an expensive ticket. With flowers in hand she was soon on her
way to have a delightful Mother's Day with her mother. |
| Rose was thrilled as she saw God keep His promises to her.
She had asked and God gave her the desire of her heart.
God is pleased when we show our parents honor. In His law, He said those who honor their parents will have long life. "Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land that the Lord thy God gives you." Exodus 20 John 14:14 If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. Ask and it shall be given you; seek and you will find...Mathew 7:7 Sometimes we do not get what we asked for because God can see the future. We might think it would be a blessing but it could turn out to be just the opposite. Sometimes God wants us to wait and He gives something better. Don't give up when you ask for something. Just let God know you will still love Him and obey Him no matter what His answer is. It is fine with you if He has a bigger gift in mind. He is a special FRIEND who wants the best for you. So we can pray for what we want then say it is up to Him how He answers the prayer. Another key to answered prayer is if we are obeying what God asks of us. That is what is meant when He says to "abide in Me". If you are wanting to live God's loving way, He will give you whatever you ask for if it is best. (John 15:7) If you remember to thank Him and give HIM the praise, He will give you more than you asked or dreamed. You can visit Roses web site for more great stories.
