Car Healed |
The
car was used and several years old. It had 4 wheel drive like we needed
for our driveway in winter but it leaked oil. It was not recommended that
the car be taken into another country such as Mexico. We could not argue
with the purchase agreement. It seemed like a gift from God. We could have
the car in our name and drive off with it and pay for it in six months if
work picked up and there was money to do this. Our friend we fondly call
"dad" Dave Johnson had another good car lined up for us. |
![]() On
the way home driving this car we began to pray. The teenager in the front
seat asked God to give us a sign which car to take on our mission to
Mexico. My boy asked for a rainbow spot in the sky to show up at the three
o'clock position on the right from the sun if we were to drive there. It
was to be on the left if we were to wait till we had money to fly. While I
was driving into the sun on the way home, I saw immediately a bright
rainbow spot so bright it was not possible to miss it. I did not relish
the idea of driving all that way. (10,000 miles round trip.) |
From
the back seat I heard another boy praying. He thanked God for telling us
that information and asked which car to take into Mexico. If it was to be
the 1985 AMC Eagle, he wanted to see the rainbow spot right at the
twelve o'clock position or at noon above the sun. If it was to be the old Pontiac
then we needed a rainbow at the six o'clock position. Immediately the
rainbow spot faded on the right and it appeared on top of the sun at the
12 o'clock position. |
We
packed up and were on our way in a couple days, trusting God knew why to
take a car leaking oil. We did not have funds for repairs but stopped in
for checks three times during the journey. Each said the gaskets in the
engine needed replaced and something at the oil filter. We had to add 2
quarts every time we stopped for gasoline. |
By
the time we reached the Mexican border, we had put in 36 bottles of oil.
In Arizona I was given a warning for polluting the air. A big blue smoke
screen followed me. Oil covered the back window and we had to wash it each
gasoline fill up. It took all my courage and faith to cross the border and
proceed to the southern tip of Mexico. God was watching to see if I would
pass His test. The first fill up for gasoline, we thought we did something
wrong. We wiped the dip stick off several times and checked it over and
over. It never leaked again. The old car still runs in December of 2001.
It has 217,600 miles on it. God surprised many mechanics with this
miracle. He answered my prayers for help even more than I asked for. He
went beyond my wildest imagination of helping this car make the journey.
(Ephesians 3:20) |
![]() God
Invites us to ask for things. He wants hard jobs. I have zero mechanical
ability and it was a big job I asked for when I needed help on this leaky
car. We limit by not asking for much of anything. Remember how Gideon
asked God for a sign about the fleece? (Judges 6)
Isaiah 7:11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where [is] the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Zechariah 10:1 Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; [so] the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. God is able to do for us "Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20) God honored the prayer of Gideon who had an impossible assignment. He wanted to really be sure God was with him. God honored his request for a sign. Judges 6:39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. |
