LEOPARD LIKE POWER

This lesson is built on the assumption that lesson 7 and 8 of Basic Bible lessons has already been studied. The beasts that line up with the Daniel 2 image explain history of the rise and fall of nations. Each nation left its ideas in the minds of people. These were passed on to the children. Now we see a beast in Revelation with a combination of all these powers and their thoughts. It would be good to go back and review the lesson mentioned before studying this lesson. Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

The most important clue is that the dragon, Satan gave power to this beast.

Clue: Look at His foot prints

Let's start by looking at the feet of this animal for clues as to who he is. Whose footprints are these?

Since the Bible says this beast has the feet of a bear, it is describing some thoughts that are the same as Medo Persia. This is the Kingdom that took over Babylon during the time of Daniel. You can read about that prophecy in these parts of the book of Daniel:

Daniel 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

Daniel 7:5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Daniel 7:17 These great beasts, which are four, [are] four kings, [which] shall arise out of the earth.
7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

Let's look at the gods of Medo-Persia.

Bears feet are powerful in destruction. The bear humped on one side showed Persia was stronger than the Meds. Together they overthrew 3 countries. That is what the 3 ribs in his mouth represented. The feet hold up the body almost like a foundation.

The god Mithra of Persia had a round ball in its hand. This ball is used in the Catholic church. It is in the hand of various statues in the museums in the Vatican.

It is on the Pope's crown.

What did it represent in history? The encyclopedia tells us Persians believed there were adoring shepherds at the birth of Mithra on December 25.

Most people think that December 25 is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and call it "Christmas". But this was not His birthday. It came from this ancient god of Persia. The cult of Mithra claimed to rule the world. That is why it holds a round ball. They believed that all life sprung from Mithra."

Leaders of this church power wear hats very similar to the fish god of the underworld of ancient Babylon (Oanes). Oanes is pictured as a god made up who people claimed had power over the dead. Remember that ONLY Jesus has those keys (Rev. 1:18)

Do you know about the fish god?

The encyclopedia states this cult is known to have existed as far back as 2,500 BC. That goes back 2,496 years before Jesus lived and died on this earth for our sins.

Way back in old testament history, the Philistines grabbed the ark of GOD from priests Hophni and Phinehas who had taken the ark into battle. They put this in their temple to the fish god Dagon. In the morning the idol was on its face before the ark of God.

Priests set it back up but the next morning it was on the floor broken. Frightened, the Philistines wanted to send it home on a cart drawn by oxen that had calves. It is hard for a mother to leave her calf. But God led those oxen to the Israelite camp.

God showed how He felt about the fish god Dagon. He will have no idols claimed as gods in His presence. God is the creator of all things and there is no equal with Him on this earth.

Nimrod was the leader who built the tower of Babel. He was grandson of Noah. People believed Nimrod returned to them from the dead. This was a lie from Satan. Oanes was the Babylonian fish-god.

In Egypt Isis was the goddess of the Nile. They thought she lived in a fish body.

In the miters worn by popes, cardinals and bishops, there is a striking similarity to the ancient gods of Babylon, who claimed to be god of the underworld. ONLY GOD HAS POWER OVER DEATH.

There is a claim to have the keys of death by this church. If you pay enough money they say you can move dead people's souls up towards heaven.

Another clue: This beast has a mouth of the lion. Babylon is represented by the mouth of this beast. He talks like old Babylon did. Babylon was world ruler for awhile.

Here is another clue about who this beast is: The Body of the leopard was in this beast.

Greece was represented in the body of the leopard. Let me introduce to you a made up god with many names. It started out in Greece with the name Zeus. Then in Pagan Rome it was called Jupiter. Later it was called Peter so Christians would accept this as an important god.

Jupiter is an ancient god of Greece called Zeus. This god was believed to have been born in a cave in Crete. In these caves Satan was worshipped. The Greeks claimed Zeus had power over thunder and lightning. Jupiter, the Roman god was claimed to have all powers of Zeus. Jupiter is the same god as the Greek god Zeus. It is just what the Romans called it. It was worshipped as god of rain, thunder, and lightning. It was identified as a guardian of law and defender of truth. It was to be a protector of justice and virtue. He was supposed to be RULER of other gods. He was made king of the sky and of heaven. To be attractive to Christians, his name was changed to Peter. The text (Mathew 16:18 quoting Jesus, is used incorrectly to give this image power. "Upon this rock, I will build my church." Jesus is the rock, not Peter. Jesus had just asked Peter a question about WHO the messiah was. Peter answered right because God had taught him. Jesus did not build his church on Peter.

Notice that this image has the Satan worship power signal. Well, it came from the Satan worship caves near Crete, of course it has this hand signal. It is the same hand signal used in Pokemon for children to play with.

Here is another clue about who this beast is. This beast was in control for 1260 years and received a mortal wound. Then later the wound healed.

In 538 the Roman church became powerful due to Justinian's declaration that he was head of all churches (533) All were forced to join the church in 90 days or leave the country. 1260 years later in 1798 the pope was taken captive by France's general Berthier under Napoleon. The ring was stripped off his finger. His property was taken and sold. The Papal states were abolished and Rome was declared a republic. The pope was taken to France where he died on August 29, 1799. For a long time there were no popes. This is the wound that the Bible said they had. Then later the wound heals.

Did you know how the healing of that wound is going? It is amazing. Unless you know history, it is not obvious. Let me list just a few of the evidences. Since September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States it is even more obvious. For there have been counsel meetings for advice and help from the Catholic Church at the Vatican. The wound is Healing. There is even new legislation in America on Oct. 26 stating that the Sunday Law is not against our constitution.

At present the Catholic church is increasing in world wide influence. Some of the more obvious healing developments of our time are:

1. The restoration of Papal sovereignty by Mussolini in 1929

2. Large Catholic growth in memberships world wide.

3. Steady uniting of world church and world powers.

4. Success of the Mass celebrated 1 mile from the site of 100,000 murders in Paris France of Protestants by Catholics in 1572. Mass celebrated on same date, August 24, 1997 brought huge crowds of attending Protestants. This surprised the pope.

A clue from Daniel 4 says this power thinks to change times and laws.

The calendar change was made by the same pope that was ruling during the St. Bartholomew massacre. The Gregorian Calendar change did not change the days of the week. It just renumbered things so they matched up better with religious holidays.

In 1582 the calendar was changed.

The Catholics claim they did change the day of worship.

"Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her--she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day--a change for which there is no Scriptural authority. (The Controversial Catechism, pp. 124, 125, by Stephen Keenan, Burns and Oates, London, 1896 edition)

Another clue about this beast is its war on all the saints

It is estimated that over 50 million were killed by this power during the 1260 years from 538 through 1798. The horror stories are recorded in a book called Foxe's Book of Martyrs. It gives clear details of the force from this beast.

To quote the Catholic magazine "The Western Watchman":

"The church has persecuted;...we have always defended the persecution of the Huguenots and the Spanish Inquisition. Wherever and whenever there is honest Catholicity, there will be a clear distinction drawn between truth and error, Catholicity, and all forms of heresy. When she thinks it good to use physical force, the church will use it..."

The famous Seven Hills of Rome are Palatine, Capitoline, Aventine, Viminal, Quirinal, Esquiline, and Caelian. They are ridges of the Campagna. They were originally separated from each other by malarial marshes, which over the centuries were drained and occupied. Although the 7 hills are not very high, 100-200 feet, they served the first settlement. Other hills are also used as well in modern times.
