We Needed Help! We had no place to go. We were faced with living on the street.

We could not find a place to rent with our limited funds.

While my husband and I were in medical school we rented a two bedroom home. We paid for it with what we could borrow for our schooling. Times were very hard. The books, tuition, and cost of our car to get to rotations soon drained away our loan money. When we were just a few months away  from my husband being able to work as a fully licensed doctor, we were told to get out of our rented house. The landlords wanted to make a day care center in that home. We were on the last dime of our borrowed funds for schooling. The job my husband had lined up would not start paying for his work for 6 weeks. How could we possibly survive with a ten month old baby on the street!  I imagined the cold, under the bridge experience I could have. Our families lived 2,000 miles away.  Where would we put our medical books and the little bit of furniture we had for baby and our bed? I took the problem to God in prayer. It was an impossible emergency. Being homeless is a terrible experience.

He knows just how to meet every emergency, and how to guide you through every path of danger. Then why not trust Him? {CC 117.4} Conflict and Courage by Ellen White

A month earlier I had visited with a real estate agent in the adjoining state of Kansas and discussed our future desires for a little home in the country as soon as my husband could be licensed. I never, at the time, realized how important that visit was. Every morning this real estate agent exercised by running with a friend of mine who went to the same church.
I called her up and asked if she still had a previously described home for rent. It was taken. She had momentarily forgotten who I was. My name and my voice did not bring back any memory of our discussion the month before.

Five minutes later, she called me back. In that same five minutes, I had called a medical school friend who had received his next years school loan early. He had volunteered a 1,200 sum and did not want it back for several months. His wife hurriedly fixed peanut butter sandwiches and brought these things to us. The cash was for first and last month rent in a rental.

When this real estate lady called back, I had already been comforted by God. She remembered our discussion. Her offer was one giant surprise. They had just built a home and would allow us immediate possession for only 1,200 down. We tried not to act too excited but it was obvious the Lord had whispered the amount in her ear. That was our sign that God had this in HIS plan for us. It was all we had to work with. That night we were in our home! This was the quickest transaction I had ever heard of. We felt God had given us a GREAT BIG HUG.
Many happy years were spent in this home. It had a warm cozy fire place, central heating, a nice new kitchen. Oh, how we loved our hug from God.

He answered our prayers in a bigger way than we expected. To God be the glory, for the things He has done to help us!

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
3:21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

My God shall supply all your needs. Phil. 4:19

They shall not be ashamed in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. Ps. 37:19

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yea, you will lie down, and your sleep will  be sweet. Prov. 3:24

And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones...Is. 58:11

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Ps. 34:8. {FLB 16.1}
There is an evidence that is open to all--the most highly educated, and the most illiterate--the evidence of experience. God invites us to prove for ourselves the reality of His Word, the truth of His promises. He bids us "taste and see that the Lord is good." Instead of depending upon the word of another, we are to taste for ourselves. . . . And as we draw near to Jesus, and rejoice in the fullness of His love, our doubt and darkness will disappear in the light of His presence. {FLB 16.2} Faith I live By     by Ellen White

God invites us to prove for ourselves the reality of His Word, the truth of His promises. He bids us "taste and see that the Lord is good." Ps. 34:8. . . . He declares, "Ask, and ye shall receive." John 16:24. His promises will be fulfilled. They have never failed; they never can fail. {FLB 123.4}

Experience is knowledge derived from experiment. Experimental religion is what is needed now...They have never tasted and learned by experience that the Lord is good. {Mar 74.2}
To become a disciple of Christ is to deny self and follow Jesus through evil as well as good report. . . . Every darling indulgence that hinders our religious life must be cut off. . . . Will we put forth efforts and make sacrifices proportionate to the worth of the object to be attained? {Mar 74.3} Maranatha  by Ellen White
