Moving out from Kansas was not an easy task. I was soon to have baby number three. He was due the next month after we moved. The banks did not want to qualify us for a new home loan because we had just moved into the area. We had just finished school and they considered us a big risk. They wanted to see us actually earn the money we had been promised. We lived in a room of mom and dad's home clear out west of Portland by over an hours drive. We were so thankful for a place to stay. Mom was so helpful with the two little boys. She washed clothes, cared for the boys, and did cooking. She was a great help during this transition.
Because of the jealousy of the doctor practicing in the same building, there was a great amount of stress on me as well as being in the 8th month of pregnancy, starting a new business, learning who all the specialists were for referrals, and just making so many decisions. I worked the day of his delivery. I was in labor all day, had a reception at the office for all the doctors, oversaw the unloading of the moving van into storage, and had a visit with a lawyer over a school loan. That evening he was born.
In just a day, I was home and then back at my work in three days. I was doing all I could to succeed. My Bible was always on my desk. When I would nurse baby Kyle, I would read from the Bible. In between patients, I would review a promise. Kyle stayed in his little basket in my office.
Driving the one hour home to mom's and dad's, I relaxed too much and often fell asleep while driving. I guess angels awakened me just barely in time as I was over in the other lane driving towards oncoming traffic. This happened several times. I was totally exhausted from being in the fast lane, trying to do the work of 3 people.
I know God sent His angel and kept me alive during those years. We worked very hard to pay our bills. But it was all taken from us. What really matters is our friendship with Jesus and our family. Those things can never be taken from us. In Psalms 91 God promises to give His angels charge over us. They did take care of me.
