Dependence

God's weapons are so different from how people think, it can totally blow your mind! This weapon is shocking. It is a secret weapon because so few understand it. Children can understand it before adults do. This weapon is really powerful.
Moses was trained in the best schools of the world for leading battles. He was raised in the very center of the leading world power in his time. He was ready to become leader of Egypt. God miraculously protected him as a baby when his mother prayed for help. All baby boys were to be killed but his dear godly mother wove a basket, made it water proof and placed it into the water of the crocodile infested waters of the Nile River where all the other baby boys were thrown to die. God rewarded her faith and gave her back her boy to raise for the daughter of Pharaoh who found the floating boy.
Moses learned the most powerful weapons and strategy of the world leaders of his time. In his heart he knew God had saved him to free his people who were slaves in Egypt. He guarded his affections and did not get into deep close friendships with people in the palace. One day, he decided to do things on his own and he killed a mean task master who was beating the slaves. He had to run for his life. God led him from there across the desert to the home of another family who loved Him.
The next 40 years in that desert, he led sheep and learned in God's school of weapons more powerful than any of those of Egypt. He learned to depend on God. He leaned completely on God. He saw a burning bush and heard God's voice ask him to go lead the slaves to freedom. He saw God turn his shepherd's rod into a snake and back to wood. He saw God give him a disease of white scales called leprosy and take it away. Leprosy was the most feared disease of the times like aids and cancer are today. The snake was a symbol of Satan. He was able to pick up that snake by the tail and not get bitten. This was like a promise that he had power over death and Satan while depending on God for everything.
Moses ventured out depending on God for every direction, for language, for safety, for a place to stay, and for food to eat, and clothing. He had no income. He trusted in God to help the slaves believe in freedom. All his weight was in the arms of God.
As Moses told the king of the plagues, the king was exceedingly angry. He was enraged because he could not intimidate Moses. He tried and tried but Moses calmly delivered God's messages and walked away. King Pharaoh was afraid to hurt him. He wanted to make Moses tremble before his kingly authority but Moses was leaning and depending for support from a stronger King. He leaned on a mightier than that of all earthly monarchs.
After the last plague of death, the proud pharaoh remembered that he had said, "Who is the Lord that I should obey his voice, to let Israel go? He humbled himself and went with his counselors and his rulers to Goshen in a hurry. He bowed before Moses and Aaron and told them to go with all flocks, herds, families and everything they wanted. He urged them to go fearing that if they stayed any longer, all would be as dead men.

Then Pharaoh asked for a blessing. He thought that he could get some protection from more trouble if Moses would bless him.

Jesus is a mighty Captain of His hosts of heaven. What weapons does He give to those who believe and work for Him?

What are the weapons of the Christian? The Word of God is the light that helps you see danger on the path.  The armor of the Christian is the protection. But what do they use to pull down Satan's lies? How can you pull down imaginations and everything that exalts itself? The weapons of love, testimony, rejoicing, singing, contentment, patience and cheerfulness when suffering,  memorized texts and events of God's power, and now this very powerful weapon of dependence.

Most of the world expects independence of thought and action. But the weapon of dependence on God moved the world leader Pharaoh in the above story. He was so humbled that he rushed to the slums of Egypt where the cows and sheep and slaves were. He found Moses and Aaron and bowed down before them and asked for a blessing. He was hoping that he would not die if they would just bless him.

Children know how to be dependent. The uneducated depend on the educated for what they should do. Poor people know how to depend. Ladies who do not have a job know how to depend on their husband for their supplies. Most of the Bible women stories showed their dependence on God. If you depend on God for help in decisions and actions to work, you have found a fantastic weapon. This secret weapon is very strong because it looks so weak. The enemy lets down their guard. What could a woman or a poor person do to harm them? They usually eave them alone.

We have this treasure of the gospel in earthen vessels so that God's power will be more obvious. All know that the power is coming from God when a little lady does evangelism with a team of children. All of the team is totally dependent on God for food, protection, money, wisdom, and everything.

2 Cor. 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Rev. 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Look at 2 Corinthians 10:4

10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ;

This is a spiritual kingdom, in which those who are most active in serving their brethren are the greatest. Christ's servants, under His direction, are to administer the affairs of His kingdom. They are to eat and drink at His table, that is, be admitted to near communion with Him.

Those who search for worldly distinction and glory make a sad mistake. It is the one who denies self, giving to others the preference, who will sit nearest to Christ on His throne. He who reads the heart sees the true merit possessed by His lowly, self-sacrificing disciples, and because they are worthy He places them in positions of distinction, though they do not realize their worthiness and do not seek for honor. . . .

God places no value on outward display or boasting. Many who in this life are looked upon as superior to others, will one day see that God values men according to their compassion and self-denial. . . . Those who follow the example of Him who went about doing good, who help and bless their fellow men, trying always to lift them up, are in God's sight infinitely higher than the selfish ones who exalt themselves.

God does not accept men because of their capabilities, but because they seek His face, desiring His help. God sees not as man sees. He judges not from appearances. He searches the heart, and judges righteously. . . .

He accepts and communes with His lowly, unpretentious followers; for in them He sees the most precious material, which will stand the test of storm and tempest, heat and pressure. Our object in working for the Master should be that His name may be glorified in the conversion of sinners. . . .

Let us rejoice that the Lord does not measure the workers in His vineyard by their learning or by the educational advantages they have had. The tree is judged by its fruit. The Lord will cooperate with those who cooperate with Him.
