Shredded Belt

God provided this Ford through the hands of our dad Dave  when Ron was out of work. The income drop had us discouraged. He just wanted what he had in the car and we could not even see how this could happen. He encouraged us to take it, use it and pay when work picked up. The vehicle has been a comfortable blessing from God.

While traveling at a good clip through Colorado, there was a crunching noise under the hood. My son suggested we must have hit a tumble weed. A sickening feeling went through me as I noticed the temperature gate zoom up into the hotter regions, the engine failing and traffic was heavy to the right of me. I prayed for help as I needed to get over quickly and shut off the engine. A way opened up and I saw an exit ramp. I aimed for it and shut off the engine. Steering locked and the brakes went out. The momentum of the car took us up the off ramp and we eased to a stop at the intersection. God heard my cries for help. I was alone with four children over a thousand miles from home. We were headed to Kansas to do my program with the sanctuary walk through model for children.

God had a plan where He made many cars take that  freeway off ramp and ask me if they could help. I started counting them after the first one stopped and offered to take my son into town to get a belt. He said it was a serpentine belt that runs it all. When it is gone, nothing works. He wondered how I was able to get the car stopped. While he was gone into town with the old belt, it seemed like forever before he came back. During that time 13 people stopped to help. Two strong men pushed the car off to the side of the road for me. It seemed God was making a point that I was important to Him. I have never had that many people stop to help before.
The kind man who took my son into town said someone had stopped for him once and taken him an hour distance for repairs and took care of him in the nicest way. He was just passing on the favor. WOW!

God picked the nicest man to help us. He bought the part on his business card and passed on the savings to us. Then he came with tools and tried to get the belt on. It was really hot weather and he worked hard sweating away. My son and he could not get the belt on. Then another person came by who helped and it  finally went together.

On the way home we took a side road out to see if we could dig up some sapphires. We drove through some real pretty country. This waterfalls was breath taking. The road became narrower and there was no guard rail on the side where there was a deep drop off. The thought crossed my mind. WHAT IF THE BELT HAD BROKEN OUT THERE? What would it be like to have no brakes or power steering on that curvy road? Oh, how grateful I am to God for having that belt brake where HE KNEW HIS FRIENDS WOULD FIND ME. I know God is in control. I know He loves me. He loves you too, dear reader.
God answered my cries for help with an abundance of helpers. He had control of where that belt should break and when.
