Not
used to tornadoes, we had a new experience when we first moved to Missouri
for medical schooling. We were going to choir performance in Kansas when
we saw one headed our way. Others stopped their cars and were watching so
we did too. Later we discovered that even though it pulled up into the sky
and went over us, we should have taken cover. They can flash down in an
instant and are so unpredictable. We have seen their devastation
since then. Six Years passed and I was with child. He had almost
arrived too early and medications had kept him quiet till after
graduation. |
Then
on a stormy morning it was time to go to the hospital. It was only 2
o'clock in the morning. We had to wake up the neighbor. Our little 2 year
old son was taken to the neighbor's house and all was made ready to head
to the hospital. Contractions for the delivery of the baby were 3 minutes
apart. There was no light and the wind was blowing. Then rain poured down.
The car was violently moved from side to side. It very hard for my husband
to keep the car on the road. I was praying for help and concentrating on
the baby that was coming and he was trying to get me there so he did not
have to deliver it himself. He knew how but during his doctor training a
little one had died and it upset him so he never wanted to have to deliver
another baby.
We made such slow progress. We had no idea that there was in the darkness outside any more than just a bad storm. When the doctor arrived to deliver Ian, she told us that a tornado had crossed our path. |
![]() Graduation
had just passed and in a few days, I was to be on a surgery rotation. God
had spared our lives and had plans for us in His work. I know He has a
special job for my son too. God again had heard our prayers for help. |

has power over any storm. Just pray to Him when you are in danger. |
